Hansel and Gretel

Last Saturday some of our Littleton Youth Ballet dancers performed in Hansel and Gretel.  This is an original ballet with music by Dvorak, Donizetti, and Humperdinck and choreography by Alison and Bobbie Jaramillo.  It was a wonderful experience and the dancers performed beautifully!  It is so amazing to realize that our young dancers sharing the role of Gretel just turned 11 last month and our Hansel is only 12.  And they carry the entire ballet!!!!  All of our dancers improved over the summer and this was evident in their performances.  Our only bummer situation of the weekend is that many of our LDA families didn't attend this awesome ballet.

CPYB

So my mom Bobbie, me (Ali), and Jonelle are all here in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where we are attending the Teacher's Workshop at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.  This is my fifth time here over six years (my mom's fourth) and as usual we are definitely brain fried after a long week, but we are also excited to begin the 2014-2015 Academic Year!  Now that we have been here so long, we are greeted more personally by the teachers at CPYB.  We've also had a lot of our students attend.  Last year Alyssa Palazzo, Emma Rutter, and Jenna Armstrong all attended the two week August Course and this year Alyssa attended the 5 week summer intensive (where she was moved up twice over the 5 weeks) and Anna Brandner, Madeline Ryner, and Tate Ryner all attended the first week of the August Course.  Marcia Dale Weary is truly an amazing woman and we look forward to watching her work her magic!  We also love Melinda Howe and Darla Hoover who lead the workshop and are just so awesome!  It was great to have Melinda remember our students from this summer.  This year San Francisco Ballet principal dancer and former CPYB student Vanessa Zahorian is here and she is so nice and humble!  She's recovering from an injury and is taking lower level classes this week, working along side the girls and boy in the Lime level.  What an amazing example for everyone!  We keep explaining to our students that you can always take a lower level class and learn something and here is someone they probably have seen dance on TV who is doing the very same thing.
Thanks CPYB for an amazing week and we look forward to getting home and continuing our work with our amazing LDA students,
